Dr. Timothy Langille

Dr. Timothy Langille is an Associate Teaching Professor in the School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies at Arizona State University. He completed his doctorate at the University of Toronto in the Study of Religion and Jewish Studies. His research focuses on trauma and memory, genocide in antiquity, the Jewish Legion during World War I, and Purim plays in post-Holocaust DP camps. At Arizona State University, Langille primarily teaches courses on the Hebrew Bible, Jewish history, comparative genocide, religion and violence, nationalism, and ethnic conflict. He has participated in summer institutes and seminars at the Holocaust Educational Foundation (Northwestern University), Zoryan Institute (University of Toronto), and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. These programs have focused on pedagogy in Holocaust studies, genocide studies, and Jewish studies. He is currently working on a book manuscript on genocide in antiquity. He is a member of the board of directors for Genocide Awareness Week.
